Better After 40
Better After 40 is Dr. K's approach to helping women cut through the overwhelming, often conflicting health advice they encounter in midlife. It brings together science, over two decades of clinical experience, and the practical strategies Dr. K uses in her own life, built around one question: how do we live longer, and feel strong, capable, and well while we're doing it?
Her approach favours progress over perfection: understanding your body, focusing on what actually moves the needle, and building habits you can sustain, even as your hormones, metabolism, or life circumstances change.
Your 40s, 50s, and beyond shouldn't be about managing decline. They can be some of your strongest, healthiest, and most confident years yet.
Your body may be changing. The strategy needs to change with it.
Perimenopause and menopause can change the way a woman sleeps, responds to stress, builds muscle, regulates blood sugar, manages her weight, and experiences her energy, mood, and overall health. Dr. K doesn't believe women should have to accept feeling exhausted, uncomfortable in their bodies, or simply not like themselves as a normal part of getting older.

THE METABOLIC RESET PROGRAMMore than just a Weight Loss Program...
You can't heal a body you don't love.
The Metabolic Reset Program addresses the reasons weight loss becomes difficult in perimenopause and beyond, including hormone shifts, inflammation, gut health, and how well your liver clears what it needs to. Rather than another restrictive plan, it works on the systems underneath.
To learn more about our program and how we can help you reach your health goals, book a free metabolism audit with Functional Medicine Coach and program director, Gloria Vaughan.
Imagine waking up energized, feeling comfortable in your clothes, and knowing you finally cracked the code on what works for your body.
What working together looks like.
What working together looks like.
We Start With Your Story.
A full consult on your history, your symptoms, and what you want to get back to. This is the context that lab numbers alone never show, and it shapes everything that follows.
We Test What Matters
Functional and conventional labs to find what's actually driving your symptoms, whether that's hormones, thyroid, gut health, or metabolism. We only run what's relevant to you, and I walk you through the results so it makes sense.
We Build Your Plan & Adjust As Needed
Targeted treatment, nutrition, and lifestyle changes matched to your labs and your life. No generic protocols, and nothing you can't realistically sustain.

Your Questions Answered
We know choosing the right practitioner is a big decision. Here are answers to some of the questions you may have about working with a functional medicine practitioner.
-
At our initial consult, I’ll take time to listen to your story and understand your health history. We’ll go over your symptoms and goals, and I may suggest functional or conventional lab testing to get a clearer picture. You’ll also start working with my team on nutrition and lifestyle changes right away. Then, once your results are back (usually 2–6 weeks), we’ll meet again to review everything in detail and map out your next steps.
-
Yes. I don’t provide emergency or urgent care, and I don’t replace the role of your family doctor. My focus is different, I dig deeper into the “why” behind your symptoms and help create lasting changes in your health.
-
Services are billed directly to you. We’ll provide you with detailed receipts that you can submit to your insurance provider, and many plans cover naturopathic care. Coverage for labs or prescriptions depends on your plan, so it’s best to confirm with your provider.
-
The tests I recommend are always based on your individual needs. They might include blood, saliva, urine, or stool testing. Some conventional labs can be ordered through your family doctor and are covered by OHIP. If I order them through my practice, they’re not covered by OHIP and you’d pay out of pocket. Specialty functional testing is optional, and we’ll always make sure you understand the cost and relevance before moving forward.
-
No. Labs and supplements are separate and depend on your unique plan. Functional testing helps ensure that any supplements recommended are truly necessary and tailored to your needs. I only suggest what I believe will meaningfully support your progress.
-
Yes. I see patients both in-office and virtually (video or phone). Many patients appreciate the flexibility of virtual visits, especially when balancing work, family, and health.
