Dr. Snider holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo (2002) and earned his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto (2006). He completed advanced training in functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine’s Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) program in 2018.
In addition to his formal education, Dr. Snider has pursued extensive post-graduate training in several specialized disciplines. He has studied applied psychoneuroimmunology under Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, applied kinesiology with Dr. George DeWit, and functional biochemistry with Dr. Chris Astill-Smith—each of whom has significantly shaped his approach to whole-person healing and root-cause medicine.
He has also developed two targeted functional medicine programs: Beyond Pain, designed to support patients struggling with inflammatory joint conditions, and Gut Renewal Blueprint, a step-by-step system to help individuals heal from IBS, Crohn’s, colitis, and other gut-related disorders. These programs blend clinical insights with practical lifestyle strategies to help patients regain control over their health.

For thirty years, we told patients depression was a chemical imbalance. Then in 2022, the largest review ever conducted found the evidence was never there. So if depression isn't a serotonin problem, what is it?
Waking up tired, stiff, or inflamed? It may not be adrenal fatigue. A flattened cortisol rhythm, often driven by dim days and bright nights, can disrupt sleep, increase inflammatory signaling, and impair metabolic function. This article explores how light timing shapes hormone balance and what you can do to restore a healthier rhythm.
Body weight alone tells us very little about how the body is functioning. This article explores how InBody body composition scans provide insight into muscle mass, cellular health, metabolism, and mitochondrial function, and how they are used in clinic as part of your care.
Most gut issues don’t start in the gut. They start when your body’s natural rhythms fall out of sync with light, sleep, and daily routine. In this article, Dr. Ben Snider, ND, shares how circadian rhythm, mitochondrial health, and simple lifestyle shifts can restore digestion, mood, and energy… without chasing another supplement.
Fall and winter don’t have to mean getting sick on repeat. Simple daily habits can strengthen immune defenses. At Functional Medicine Uptown, we also offer functional testing and IV nutrient therapy for deeper, personalized support. With the right strategy, you can move into the season with confidence in your immune health.
If you’ve ever felt anxious, bloated, or flushed and couldn’t figure out why, histamine might be involved. Beyond allergies, histamine influences your gut, brain, and immune system. In this article, Dr. Ben shares how histamine overload develops, why stress and environment matter, and what you can do to restore balance.
Is your CPAP machine solving the problem…or just covering it up? In this article, Dr. Ben ND explores the surprising mitochondrial roots of sleep apnea and introduces a deeper, functional approach. Discover how oxygen, circadian rhythm, and cellular energy play a role in your sleep, and what you can do to truly restore it. This article is a must read for anyone seeking more than symptom management and ready to explore root cause resolution.
Millions take vitamin D supplements daily — yet rates of fatigue, mood disorders, and immune dysfunction continue to rise. Why? Because vitamin D isn’t just a nutrient — it’s a light signal. In this post, Dr. Ben Snider, ND, explores why sunlight still outperforms supplements, how your skin was designed to manufacture vitamin D through light, and what your body truly needs to thrive.
Waking up tired, relying on caffeine, and crashing by evening? It might not just be stress—it could be a sign your cells are running on empty. IV Nutrient Therapy offers a fast, effective way to restore your cellular charge by delivering essential vitamins and minerals directly into your bloodstream. In this blog, we explore why energy isn’t just about what you eat or how much you sleep—it’s about how well your mitochondria function, how hydrated your cells are, and how balanced your redox potential is. If you're ready to feel truly recharged, this one’s for you.
For decades, cholesterol has been blamed for heart disease — driving restrictive diets and widespread medication use. But new research challenges this narrative, revealing that total cholesterol and LDL-C alone aren’t the best predictors of risk. In this article, we explore more accurate markers like ApoB and the TG/HDL ratio, the overlooked role of insulin resistance, and why cholesterol is essential — not harmful — for hormones, brain health, and even cellular communication.
Feeling low energy, brain fog, or just not quite yourself as the seasons shift? This spring, we’re diving into how light, nutrients, and daily rhythms can recharge your mitochondria—the tiny engines behind your focus, metabolism, and vitality.
